Tout goes jazzy elsewhere, but my old memory is failing as always. Pretty sure it's on Prologue where it comes through strong.
Love this track The final verse gives me spine chills
need to react to awb wonderful piece one look over my shoulder is this really goodbye !
do ebony jam !
now this is journey. not that steve perry crap
One of the first zehul songs I ever heard. Amazing.
Jesus, are you playing this through a broken telephone speaker hanging in a bucket?
Kings,.. is a masterpiece, still fresh After all these years..
Keith from South Shields, my mum still great friend of his sister Lorraine… memories!!!
My father owned 10% of virgin at the time, Branson was often at our house, this is another story. If you want more information from that period let me know .
My father never liked the mix Visconti did 😢
The album cover, if you look at the nasty pop logo in green, that’s my handwriting aged 5, my name Jason Wesley, check out the credits, I’m in there.
The singer of this song is not a scouser, he’s a Geordie. Keith, bass, joined the band Squeeze. Keith Wimshurst, the singer of Lonely King, my father visited him yesterday, he has terminal cancer, very sad news.
Sad news best wishes to him
@@simonccraddock thanks ☮️
Thanks for commenting. It's wonderful to hear from someone with connections to the band. Sorry to hear about Keith's ill-health. Nasty Pop was one of the first subjects I wrote about on JazzRockSoul when I started the site in 2017. (I'll probably re-write it someday soon since my writing style has changed a lot since then). The link is on my England page and under the Liverpool tag. jazzrocksoul.com/tag/liverpool/
Two of the guys in band are from South Shields near Newcastle… Anthony and Keith. My father was their manager and I spent time in the studio when I was a kid during the Recording of this album.
First time viewer. Angela (who was MARRIED) was having an affair with her producer who wanted the sex but not HER, so she wrote this song for him, went in the studio and SANG it to him
Great effects.
Heavy and deep song
It's 7/8 fyi 🤷🏼♂️
love this review and aztec camera!
Fun review, thank you!
❤
Hey knows more about my uncle James progressions than I do !
DAVID BOWIE FANS, ASSEMBLE!!!
;-) ... Excellent commentary n insight Zaragon on the "Stooges" last 2 songs from a landmark LP in all its Highly visceral free style jazz. Purely chaotic n brutal, yet, beautifully cemented in its ""Let Roll" during the time when the Flower Power Age was drawn to the close. Outside Black Sabbath, the Stooges clearly paved the wave n invented a form genre that in was new blend to the listeners. To me, "Funhouse" n its material was just as inspiring n impactful as what Sgt. Pepper LP or Pet Sounds LP's were prior. Their inspiration invited a way for anyone to learn n play differently than all the safe acts before n the enclave from which followed thereafter. Thanx for giving us listeners a share in the Stooges n keen comments on their sheer force of which they played n the mark n scars they left n etched. Our musically world blossomed was never fully the same n that's the beauty n birth of free form in all its glory from a group. 👏👏👏Bravo!
Jesus Christ, I have have seen so many beautiful and fantastic reactions from people many years my junior to probably one of the most iconic people not just in music, but in history. I,,sadly, now have just seen your reaction. I am a guy here in the UK, in my mid sixties who on my 10th birthday got as a present, that present was the Bowie album, Hunky Dory. Since that day, I have been so lucky to have seen this musical genius live several times over the years. I have a wide collection of his work, from the early 60s, when he was with his early bands before he changed his name from Jones to Bowie like, Davy Jones and the lower third, Davy Jones and the King Bees, David Jones and the Manish Boys. I've got this guy on several discs singing in ancient mandarin, , singing Heroes and much more, in German, French, Italian etc. Yet,,,of all the most recent reactions to this BLOKE,,from people who had no idea of who he was and who were in awe of him the first time they heard him perform due to their younger age and given Bowie the time, without interpretation to totally respect what they were seeing, then I saw your reaction, nothing for the genius you was watching, but all about you!!!!,over 25 minutes of of ear burning crap. Please, do musical geniuses the favour they deserve and,,,,,,,,DON'T COMMENT
Fans can be very emotional about their favorite musicians. As a rock historian, I must take a more objective approach. Here is a 21,100-word (and counting) Bowie bio written by yours truly. jazzrocksoul.com/artists/david-bowie/
Larry Fast's style of composition really held my interest. I always felt like I was traveling somewhere. He'd write a specific pattern of notes that were like a signature line and he would then repeat it rhythmically different throughout the album so it sometimes felt like a representation around a certain kind of theme...which gave several Synergy albums character. His chord progressions were melodic and complex. He seemed to create an atmosphere with them...however...it wasn't always in an ambient piece . Instead it was a soundscape that was pure ambient in style and voicing which backed a mechanical sound of war machines . There were many transitions to find on a Synergy album. I have the entire discography on cd. Larry Fast is unique.
What a wonderful appreciation of an under appreciated musician! Glad I found your channel.. my taste in music often leaves me with no one to share it with.. feel like I found a friend 🙂 Many of the "keyboards" Bill Nelson used were actually heavily treated guitar
Hello, I love this album too.
Hi and thanks for the comment. Here's an article I wrote on Be-Bop Deluxe. jazzrocksoul.com/artists/be-bop-deluxe/
Dreams had a follow up album that wasn’t bad
That was actually an opera gong Noel was hitting in Double Happy.
I believe he is using a PPG Wave Computer 360, in addition to other devices of course. Wolfgang Düren would work for PPG as a distributor before he went on to found Waldorf Music. The percussive sound really reminds me of early Kraftwerk percussion kinda like Trans Europe Express. Some other devices I have read that he used for this were Computer Sequencer 350, 300 series Modular System, and Micromoog.
I hope you are doing well, I miss your updates!
I try to write 1,000 words per day on JazzRockSoul.com. My most efforts include the Frank Zappa and Judas Priest pages. I hope to have the Miles Davis page developed by the end of May (amid other stuff).
Very interesting viewpoints. Good observations on this song. I first heard Gentle Giant in 1973 and it always felt to me that the first four Gentle Giant albums were different from the rest and in a class of their own because of the presence of Phil Shulman and what he added. Gentle Giant ( s/t), Aquiring The Taste , Three Friends and Octopus were very magical . In A Glass House was magical and inspirational like the first four..but I could feel the absence of Phil Shulman. On Power And The Glory I don't notice him gone. The style of writing is somewhat different and doesn't quite sound similar to the early albums. "An Inmates Lullaby " from In A Glass House has definite similarities to the early Giant. The early albums were dark and whatever it was about them that differed from the rest of their back catalog is a mystery to me. Power And The Glory , Free Hand and Interview are outstanding. ..they are just different in certain ways. Some of the counterpoint and harmony is similar to how they composed on the early albums but not nearly enough to be consistent. The first 4 albums are odd. Very magical
"Knots" > "An Inmates Lullaby" > "So Sincere" > "Give It Back"... there's a connecting theme. I detail this on the GG page on JazzRockSoul.com.
Don Rader is my dad. Thanks for featuring him. He passed away 16/4/2023 and it's amazing to be able to still listen to him even though he's gone.
"Bless Your Lucky Stars" is a masterpiece...gives me chills everytime I hear it, especially the ending with guitar and all...
Minako is such an absolutely unique find, and a powerhouse of a musician.
This is a really nice song, its vibrant, melodic and so richly textured. Its like the first day of spring with brilliant sunshine, birds singing and flowers swaying in the breeze. I love it and have loved it for over 50 years. Its deeply sentimental and nostalgic for me. A work of art.
Et Cetera formed in Montreal around singer Marie Bernard Pagé (b. 1951), a classically trained keyboardist who specialized in the ondes Martenot, a rare keyboard oscillator invented in 1928 by French cellist Maurice Martenot (whose instrument was often compared to the theremin, a hands-free contemporary patent by Russian inventor Leon Theremin).
I always loved the way the guitar solo goes across the guitar riff. Sounds confusing at times, but it's fascinating. Different signatures? Hi from Argentina!
Jobriath was born Bruce Wayne Campbell on December 14, 1946, in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. As a child, he played organ at his family church and gained recognition as a piano prodigy by Philadelphia Orchestra director Eugene Ormandy. At Upper Merion High School, Campbell composed two movements for a symphony. He left the work unfinished after his interests shifted to the nascent folk-rock scene.
Rafferty kick-started his solo career with the 1978 release City to City, a US No. 1 album with the evergreens “Baker Street” and “Right Down the Line.” He followed with the 1979-80 albums Night Owl and Snakes and Ladders. His output slowed after the 1982 release Sleepwalking. In 1987, he produced the debut album by Scottish folk-rock twins The Proclaimers.
I love George Michael and Wham! Please react to more Wham❤
well thats not fair, the only song i know from them is child in time
Wow played the hell out of a few tracks on that album

One of the 3 Godfather's Rockbands in the world... Fact!!! 💪💪✌️
Kestrel came together in Newcastle upon Tyne when guitarist Dave Black and drummer David Whitaker teamed with singer Tom Knowles and bassist Fenwick Moir. Whitaker played in an earlier Tyneside act, Ginhouse, which issued a self-titled album on B & C in 1971. Their fifth member, keyboardist John Cook, was fresh off a one-album stint with soul-rockers Slack Alice. Earlier, he played on the 1971 Penny Farthing release Restless Night by Octopus.
Atoll formed in February 1972 when three musicians from Metz in the northeast of France - bassist/guitarist Jean-Luc Thillot, guitarist Luc Serra, and drummer Alain Gozzo - bonded on a train ride to Paris, where they were scheduled to meet and work with Italian singer Mike Bazzani. Though the trip was fruitless, the three hopefuls decided to form a band.
I always heard his way of singing on this one as a tounge in cheek, pompous colonialists regret a la joseph conrad
The beauty and artistry of these tracks and the rest of this album is at such an incredibly high level.
Really awesome female band, they remind me of the Modettes.
